Ha! My sister, who has a master’s degree in ethnomusicology, says this is an oud, but we Incubus fans know better, don’t we? We know a pipa when we see one (and hear one).

Incubus and Yes
Just listened to Aqueous Transmission and it suddenly reminded me of a song called Hearts by Yes, one of my (other) favorite bands. Besides the hypnotic pace, the 7-minute length, and the cosmic bit about “floating/sailing down the river,” the two songs don’t really have that much in common, but both are definitely best enjoyed when listened to with your eyes closed.

I even like Maroon 5.)
