Giving up by, Linkin Park

Excellent suggestion, but for some reason this one always cracks me up. I know it’s not supposed to.

30 day music challenge

Day 18: A song from the year that you were born.

The year? Nah, I don’t think so. But I can offer something related to the month and day I was born, February 14. It’s a sad song, since Valentine’s Day can be rough if you have to spend it alone, and all the more so if it’s also your birthday. So I think I’ll dedicate it to the person who did a good deed by making sure I wasn’t alone on the most recent Valentine’s Day. Just by coincidence, he also happens to be my favorite Linkin Park fan. He knows who he is. ♥

Linkin Park - When They Come For Me
Alpharetta, Georgia, August 19, 2012

Incubus is a pretty tough act to follow, but if anyone can pull it off it’s Linkin Park. I’m not as well-versed in their catalog as I am in that of Incubus, but the 11-hour drive to Atlanta gave me plenty of time to brush up. Hard-core fans may scoff, but so far I think my favorite album is A Thousand Suns, which was well represented at the concert. Most of the people in front of me came and went throughout the Incubus portion of the show, but returned in full force for LP and stayed put, so I didn’t have much of a window to take video. I was determined to get this one, though - one of their most interesting songs, I think.

Linkin Park - Roads Untraveled

The beginning of this reminds me of Good Morning Starshine (maybe because of all the hair talk on my blog lately).

Linkin Park - When They Come For Me

I’ve read many posts on Tumblr from frustrated young Incubus fans whose parents won’t let them buy Incubus CDs or hang Incubus posters in their rooms because of misconceptions stemming from the demonic-sounding name, the tattoos, the weird looking guy with the mustache on the album covers, or whatever other idiot thing is feeding into their paranoia. Don’t get me wrong - your parents are not idiots, they just need a little education. So the next time someone gives you a hard time about Incubus (or Linkin Park, for that matter), you can start by showing them this video that Brandon Boyd tweeted a few minutes ago.

This, boys and girls, moms and dads, is what Incubus is about.

Worth a try.

Worth a try.

I’m sorry, but this is one situation where our grainy instagrams and shaky iPhone videos posted to YouTube simply won’t do. In my mind, this calls for nothing less than IMAX.

No more sorrow, dammit.

Okay, I get it. If you’re having a problem related to sex, ask a rock star for advice. Even better if it’s two rock stars promoting a tour. Well, considering the level of my faith in professional psychologists, I guess Linkubus’ thoughts on my pathetic little hang-ups with aging would have been as valid as anyone’s. Maybe I’ll try to ask Mike & Mike about it. Or maybe I’ll just ask all of you. Maybe tomorrow. I’m probably too old to be allowed on that show anyway. It’s a wonder they let me on Tumblr.
