The best money I spent this year.

Gotye - Somebody That I Used To Know (excerpt)

Recorded live in Miami, October 7, 2012.

Tiffany Lamson of Givers (the opening act) returned to the stage to sub for Kimbra. She’d already sung her heart out earlier and was perhaps a little strained, but she managed to recover, and gave a believable performance as the irritated ex-girlfriend.

Is this not the best break-up song of all time?

Yet another 30 day music challenge

Day 15: A song you heard live [at a concert]

Since I’m just getting over a 3-day splitting headache, I’m a little behind with this music challenge, and also with sharing my videos from the Gotye concert I went to last Sunday. Luckily, I can kill two birds with one stone here and give you yummy Wally de Backer, who takes to the drums for The Only Thing I Know. More video from Gotye’s Miami show coming soon.

Though not quite close enough to look into those lovely eyes, I just got back from breathing the same muggy Miami air as Wally de Backer and his band. Video some time tomorrow.

Looks like even Gotye knows his song, ‘Somebody That I Used to Know,’ is an overplayed, viral sensation that has spawned an entire genre of YouTube covers. So the singer decided to acknowledge the hundreds of piano-playing, harp-plucking, and guitar-strumming fans who paid tribute to the catchy tune. How? He made a whole new song from the covers. Gotye calls it ‘Somebodies,’ and it’s just as annoyingly awesome as the original…”
