Incubus - Circles (excerpt)
Alpharetta, Georgia, August 19, 2012

I wasn’t going to post this, because the previously mentioned guy in the white hat obstructed my view of the stage, but the big screen affords some lovely close-ups. Not enough Chris, though.

Incubus - Aqueous Transmission (excerpt)

My camera always, always dies during the last song of any concert, so forgive the abrupt ending, but you’ll probably be in such a complete trance by then that there won’t be much that can bother you. Don’t stay zoned out for too long, though. As if the evening hadn’t already been awesome enough, Linkin Park was up next, and I had another memory card in my purse. More video shortly…

Incubus - Need You Tonight (impromptu)
Alpharetta, Georgia, August 19, 2012

My dearest Incufans, I swear to you, the first time ever I saw the face of Brandon Boyd, my exact words were, "this dude is the hottest thing since Michael Hutchence." If you’ve never heard of the late Michael Hutchence, he was the lead singer of INXS, and the guy who inhabited the fantasies of anyone who was paying attention and had a pulse back in the late 80s. Imagine, then, the frenzy I went into when I suddenly heard the words "slide over here" come sliding out of Brandon Boyd’s mouth last Sunday night. I could barely process what was happening, and the prospect of Incubus actually taking Brandon’s seemingly impromptu suggestion that they “should totally learn that song” is still making my head spin. Here’s the clip I managed to get (it’s a miracle my camera was on and pointed in the right direction), and for your further viewing pleasure, here’s a link to the original Need You Tonight by INXS. Granted, it’s very 80s, but still, you might want to turn your A/C down a notch or two. It’s likely to get a little warm.

Incubus - Pardon Me (excerpt)

I understand that Brandon Boyd is into inkblots lately, which might explain some of the visual effects here. You be the judge, but a lot of it looks like pelvises to me. Clearly, you don’t have to be Dr. Rorschach to analyze my one-track state of mind at Incubus concerts.

Incubus - A Kiss To Send Us Off
Alpharetta, Georgia, August 19, 2012

The shirt is shed and becomes the loincloth in the beginning of this one, so you’ll forgive me for finding it difficult to hold the camera steady.

Incubus - Hello (excerpt)
Alpharetta, Georgia, August 19, 2012

I’m not much of a swooner, but this was almost enough to send me hurtling down to that red earth of Tara last Sunday night, and it wasn’t just Brandon Boyd, it was ALL of them. Mike’s guitar, José’s smile…sigh. Incubus doesn’t do a lot of covers, and this is probably their most interesting choice, so just the fact that I witnessed it at all is difficult to wrap my mind around. I’m not sure what else to say about it except that every time I watch it I want a cigarette, and I don’t even smoke.

Incubus - If Not Now, When? (excerpt)
Alpharetta, Georgia, August 19, 2012

Obviously, I failed to get my act together early enough to get a closer view of the stage, but sometimes hanging back and being able to see the big picture can be a good thing. Unless, as is usually my experience, the world’s tallest person is right in front of you. I managed to dodge him for a bit, but as you’ll see, just as you’re really getting into the zen of this song, as if on cue (“…stand up and face the bright light”), he stood up (white hat) and went off somewhere. At first I feared it had ruined the video, but then it kind of cracked me up. I totally forgave him, because, you know, Incubus can have that warm fuzzy effect on me. It also didn’t hurt that he stayed gone until Linkin Park.
