Michael effing Einziger and Pinkubus, people! But, forgive me, I have to be brutally honest. I could really live without that violin. It pains me to say it. She’s adorable, and a great talent, but… sigh… am I going to have more girlfriend trouble? I just hope her mother isn’t on Tumblr.

Someone was just blogging about songs called Wish You Were Here (like the ones by Incubus and Pink Floyd). Here’s another one, an old one, a sad one, by Fleetwood Mac.

30 day music challenge

Day 20: A song that has many meanings to you.

There really isn’t one. The only song my mind keeps coming back to is Pink Floyd's Learning To Fly. It was playing on the radio while I was driving home from a friend’s house one night, when suddenly out of nowhere I saw a huge light in front of me and I knew I was going to crash into something. After the impact, my car spun around several times, totally out of control, and finally smashed into the side of an overpass. I’d hit the passenger side of a car that had sped through a red light. Neither I nor the girl who was driving the other car were seriously hurt, but if I’d been one nano-second further into that intersection, she would have hit me in the driver’s side door and I would have been killed. Or, if she’d had a passenger, the passenger would have been killed, and that would have been the end of me too, since there’s no way I could have gone on living after that. But here’s where it really gets weird. We were practically the only two cars on that road that night. It was Valentine’s Day, my birthday, and it was the other girl’s birthday too. I don’t believe in fate bringing people together, or the whole idea about one’s number being up. All I know is, for some reason, or probably for no reason at all, that birthday wasn’t my last, and I can’t hear this song without remembering that.

Pink Floyd - Breathe

Finally. The Incubus song Punch Drunk has always reminded me of something, but I could never put my finger on it. This is it.

Pink Floyd - Keep Talking

That Flaming Lips/Siri thing reminded me of this, although I don’t mean to put Stephen Hawking and Siri in the same category.

This is from my work-related Twitter account, which mostly consists of boring stuff about college libraries. I do, however, tweet whenever I see a student in a T-shirt of a band I like.

Pink Floyd - Money

There’s a music appreciation class going on in the room next to my office. The teacher is playing this song. Strange to hear it in broad daylight.
