Can we make today Beautiful Guitarist Day? Just because?
Red Hot Chili Peppers - Suck My Kiss
Today is International Kissing Day. That’s right, sweetie, I’m talking to you.
The Chili Peppers live from Bonnaroo right now!
The Black Crowes - Hard to Handle
Goo Goo Dolls - Iris
More from the 90s. I’ve never been a big fan of “official” music videos, but I always kinda liked this one. Another video I liked was Give it Away by the Chili Peppers.
Red Hot Chili Peppers - My Friends
Foo Fighters - My Hero
Still in the throes of joy and amazement over finally seeing a student on campus in an Incubus shirt the other day, guess what I saw today? A student in a Foo Fighters shirt. To understand the significance, you have to realize that I work on one of the largest college campuses in the world, and I’ve never, until this week, seen this. Sometimes I don’t understand our students, but I do love them. ♥
Update, April 19: A student in a Red Hot Chili Peppers shirt just asked me if I would grade his library assignment so he could turn it in (late) to his professor. “Anything for a Chili Peppers fan,” I replied. Unfortunately, I quickly realized that he had cheated on the assignment, so I had to give him a failing grade. Sometimes our students disappoint me, but I still love them. I can only hope he learned something.
Red Hot Chili Peppers - Give it Away
Santigold - Starstruck (excerpt)
I was right - this is the song that caught our attention when Santigold opened for the Red Hot Chili Peppers the other night in Sunrise, Florida. I must have taken this short clip just so I’d remember.
Josh’s guitar solo from Police Station, recorded April 2, 2012 in Sunrise, Florida.
The Red Hot Chili Peppers performing Under The Bridge, recorded April 2, 2012 in Sunrise, Florida. A bit shaky (the video, not the band) but worth posting just to hear the crowd singing along.
Red Hot Chili Peppers - Dani California
To relieve the frustration caused by my video of last night’s performance of Dani California getting cut off just before Josh’s solo, here’s someone else’s much more professional recording (same song, different show). And it’s always nice to see John Frusciante.
The Red Hot Chili Peppers performing Dani California at last night’s concert in Sunrise, Florida. Sadly, the clip gets cut off just before one of the best guitar solos in rock ‘n’ roll history because a very inconsiderate (not to mention tardy) couple picked that exact moment to walk past me on the way to their seats. (What is it with some people?)
Incidentally, when I uploaded this video to YouTube, I got a message saying something like, “We’ve detected that your video is shaky. Would you like us to fix it?” (If my Cuban ex-husband had been here, he would have said, “Is this a great country or what?”) So I tried it, but decided to revert to the original version. Fair warning to those prone to vertigo.
