What would your reaction be if Anthony Kiedis Bumped into you?
I think it would depend on how hard he bumped.
Well, after that embarrassing Rolling Stones gaffe on my blog just now, I thought I should assure everyone that I do know who John Frusciante is.
What would you do if you happened to see John Frusciante walking down the street?
Other than my heart skipping a beat, I probably wouldn’t do anything. Sadly, I’m very bad at celebrity encounters. I was once in a park in Barcelona, Spain and saw
Keith Richards Ron Wood sitting at a table eating an ice cream cone. Lots of people were making a big fuss, but I hung back and took my photo from a distance, not wanting to bother him. I’d like to say that if I saw the yummy John Frusciante I’d ask him for a photo, but I know I’m too shy. Although, I did surprise myself once by asking Mike Einziger for a hug when I met him. I had to. He’s just so huggable.
This wobbly clip, shot from all the way across a huge arena, is the most popular of all the videos I’ve posted on YouTube from all the concerts I’ve been to in the past 14 months. It’s Josh Klinghoffer’s solo from Police Station, performed exactly one year ago today in Sunrise, Florida.
Red Hot Chili Peppers - Sir Psycho Sexy
The best money I spent this year.
Now showing: Austin City Limits Music Festival. Channel one, Chili Peppers; Channel two, Jack White. Decisions shouldn’t have to be this difficult.
33, the little cutie? A mere babe in the woods.
Happy Birthday Josh Klinghoffer! 33 Today! :)

Day 21: A favorite song with a person’s name in the title.
I never realized how many songs I like fit into this category. Considering what’s going on in my life right now, I should probably go with Rod Stewart’s Maggie May or Simon & Garfunkel’s Mrs. Robinson, but instead I’m putting Angie by The Rolling Stones at the top of the list. Next is Bobbie Gentry’s Ode to Billie Joe, one of the greatest songs ever. Other favorites include:
Speaking of Brandon Boyd, he’s also been known to sing a few bars of Billie Jean now and then, and he’s been quoted as saying his favorite song ever is Leonard Cohen’s Suzanne. I never loved it, but for him, and because it’s pretty, I’ll offer up the Judy Collins version. Speaking of Judy Collins, there’s a song about her called Suite: Judy Blue Eyes by Crosby, Stills & Nash. There are lots of songs with the name Ruby in the title, so I’ll only mention a few: Ruby by The Kaiser Chiefs, Ruby Soho by Rancid, and Rubylove by Cat Stevens. I also have to include a few Jenny songs (since that’s my real name), and there are several, the classic of all time being Jenny Jenny by Tommy Tutone. There’s also Jenny by Walk the Moon, Jenny Was a Friend of Mine by The Killers, and Jennifer Juniper by Donovan. And finally, since I named my cat after it, here’s Kiwi by Maroon 5.

Day 15: A song that has been covered by another artist.
I was going to go with Brandon Boyd’s vast improvement on Elvis Costello’s Alison, but with all the chatter about Timelapse Consortium during the past couple of days, I thought something progressive would be appropriate. So here’s early Yes with a brilliant cover of Paul Simon’s America. My other idea was to focus just on the tons of great covers of Bob Dylan’s work, my favorites being Rage Against the Machine’s version of Maggie’s Farm, The Dead Weather’s New Pony, Eric Clapton’s Knockin’ on Heaven’s Door, The Pretenders’ Forever Young, and the Band’s I Shall Be Released. Probably the most famous take on the latter was done by Joe Cocker, and of all the bazillions of Beatles covers, I think the best is his version of With A Little Help From My Friends. Then there’s Linda Ronstadt, who pretty much did nothing but covers, many of them great, but none better than her version of Neil Young’s Birds. (She covered Alison too, by the way.) I could go on and on forever with this, but I’ll just mention three more: the Chili Peppers’ cover of Stevie Wonder’s Higher Ground, Chris Cornell’s cover of Michael Jackson’s Billie Jean, and the Foo Fighters’ cover of Arcade Fire’s Keep the Car Running.
