got any tattoos?
Short answer: No.
Long answer: On December 31, 2011, I decided I needed to start the new year off doing something I’d never done before. I walked into a tattoo shop with every good intention, but immediately had a panic attack so bad that I started hyperventilating, and the tattoo artist very rightly said I was in no condition to get inked. In tears, hysterical, I got in my car and put plan B into action. I drove to the local pet store and adopted the world’s awesomest kitten, but six weeks later (for stupid and boring reasons), I had a nervous breakdown and could no longer care for her. Some friends who live 4 hours away from me offered to take her until I could get my head back together. I miss her terribly, but she’s so much happier with my mellow friends than with neurotic me that I haven’t had the heart to take her back, and my friends are pretty attached to her now.
Anyway, one of the reasons I’d hesitated to get a tattoo is because I have a chronic illness that prevents me from walking very well, but I’d been in remission for a long time and I’d read that getting a tattoo can in some cases trigger a relapse. Since then, though, I’ve relapsed anyway, so I might eventually get a tattoo after all. I’m really not cool enough to get a tattoo (and am under no delusion that getting one will in any way make me cool), but this is such an odd time in my life I feel like I should mark it somehow. This is what I was thinking of getting, but I haven’t really decided where to put it. It’s inspired by the Incubus song Earth to Bella (“…undo yourself and see a second sun ascend.”)
Aren’t you glad you asked?
Is there something new about brandons back tattoo? I mean, look at his shoulders at the newest pics of him!
I know, right? He must have had something else done. I blogged about a similar issue a few months ago. I guess the consolation for those of us who miss the long hair is that it won’t obstruct the art.
Alright, enough with the grand philosophical crap I’ve been pondering lately. Let’s get down to the important questions, shall we? Can someone tell me why the tattoos in these two pictures look different? Is the one on the left a drawing and the one on the right unfinished?
Yum and Yummier.
Incubus - Rebel Girls (live in Atlanta, August 19, 2012)
I was there and took video of the same song, but this person was closer to the stage and managed to get some lovely sustained views of the most recent ink. Of the four times I’ve seen Incubus live (so far), this is Brandon Boyd at his sexiest. (DJ is pretty hot, too.)
Update, November 8: Wait, on second glance I don’t think this is from the Atlanta show. No matter - these guys are worth watching any time, anywhere.
Brandon Boyd just posted on Facebook this really interesting TED Talk by John Lloyd. I love TED. My favorite is this one by Kathryn Schulz about tattoos and the psychology of regret.
Brandon Boyd’s back tattoo. ♥
Great, now I’ll never get any work done today.
Yes, we’re not seeing enough pictures of this. And as much as I’d hate (in view of our Incuhair Movement) to see him cut his hair any time soon, it would seem kind of a shame if it got so long that it obscured the art.
there she is. what a beaut that new ink is…
Ooh, finally! A photo of the new ink in action. More, please!
